Retail Tomorrow was created by GMDC to foster innovation within the retail industry. As today’s evolving shopper drives change at a faster pace than ever before, retailers and their trading partners need to find ways to stay competitive in a highly disruptive marketplace.

We help companies understand the future and activate against relevant trends by hosting City Immersions and Headquarter Events to expose executives to emerging technologies, products, and new business models that will drive tomorrow’s revenue.

City Immersions

We run several City Immersions per year in locations like San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Toronto, Los Angeles, and other cities that are developing a robust innovation community. These Immersions typically last two full days and include store tours, listening to pitches from entrepreneurs, and visits to inventive companies to learn what is behind their success.

Headquarter Events

GMDC has partnered with the Center for Advancing Retail & Technology (CART) to bring retail innovation to retail or supplier headquarters. These summits are a full day of curated content focused on leading-edge solutions in retail. Subject matter – often determined by the host company – spans a broad range of topics: from blockchain and machine learning, to IOT and consumer engagement tools, and brings innovative entrepreneurs prescriptive to your goals to your HQ.


Through an agile survey process, you can choose focus areas, problem areas, or categories of interest. Based on those requirements, we run an application process sourcing some of the latest retail tech startups from around the world.


We coordinate regular on-site meeting for the finalists to present to the entire decision-making team alongside thought leaders and other engaging content. The format brings cross-functional groups together, facilitating innovation adoption.


Our program enables continued conversations and learning with the companies that present. A process framework makes it easy to decide if solutions make sense to pilot, rollout, or otherwise solidify relationships.
